Therapy for feeling, feelings and emotions

I often hear in my practice that people think they "feel nothing" or are not in touch with their feelings and therefore do not know how to express themselves. People find it difficult to express their feelings. Often this expression was not possible in the past or was not encouraged. "I didn't grow up with it" I hear more often.

Emotions and feelings are spontaneous and automatic and their very purpose is to be there and to be felt and expressed. They regulate accumulated tension in the head and body. Avoiding and suppressing feelings can have negative consequences such as rapid heartbeat, excessive sweating, flushing, chills, breathing problems. When feelings are not expressed, tension can arise. You can experience this tension physically, for example in your neck, shoulders, face, various muscles and back.

Often it is not for nothing that you suppress emotions from a certain point in your life. Consciously or unconsciously a kind of safety mechanism has entered into you that determines for you "I don't want to feel this feeling anymore!". It wants to protect you from pain. To break this pattern and get back in touch with yourself, with this emotion and pain, you need a safe setting to allow this step by step. Frozen emotions therefore need a gentle approach. You may start to feel it again and the feeling may be there.

I will be there for you, listen to you and respect your authentic feelings and emotions.

Learn to recognize your emotion and feeling

Body awareness is important for recognizing emotions and feelings

  • What is actually happening in my body?
  • How does it feel and how do I react when such an emotion or feeling suddenly bubbles up?
  • What triggers my emotions?
  • How do I express my emotions?
  • How do I avoid hiding or suppressing my emotions?
  • How can I let my feelings be, without fighting them?

One of many questions that can be worked on step by step. The first step is recognition.

Creating more body awareness

More body awareness is possible through practice. Give yourself space for physical exercises, body scans, breathing and getting in touch with your subconscious. What is happening right now and is it allowed to be there? What is my body telling me? Learn to recognize signals and listen to them. Because if you feel your body better, you can also experience and name your emotions better. If you have more body awareness, you can better indicate your limits and make choices from a peaceful state of being. You learn to experience, accept what is and from this path, in contact with yourself, also make contact again with the outside world.
